I have always loved the story of the Wizard of OZ. I wanted to make the city huge and jutting up out of the landscape. I made the lighting warm to invite the viewer in against the vastness of the imposing city. The characters are engulfed in a world much bigger than them. I used the Nagel brush series to paint this piece in Photoshop. I took the 132 brush in series 10 and dual brushed it with the 144 at 70% opacity. Originally I had the idea to make a Wizard of OZ painting with a Frazetta feel.
